Nancy O'Dell's broadcast career began as a reporter and anchor for WPDE-TV Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She worked later as an anchor for morning news on WCBD TV and was an investigative reporter. The articles written by O'Dell in Charleston, about how the Charleston police acted in DUI cases with leniency led to an inquiry by State Law Enforcement Division. This investigation led to a more strict instruction for the state's authorities. Ms. O'Dell received recognition from the Associated Press with the Best Report of the Year award for all media in South Carolina. O'Dell was then employed by the Miami-based NBC station WTVJ-TV as an investigative journalist and anchor, prior to her joining Access Hollywood in the role as a weekend anchor. In addition to her current work as a lead anchor for Access Hollywood Ms. O'Dell is also a contributor to NBC News' Today and as well for Dateline NBC. She has covered such events like The Oscars The Emmys The Grammys and The Golden Globe Awards as well as co-hosting a number of shows that were pre-showarrivals for The Emmys and the Golden Globes. The other shows she has hosted include the Miss USA pageant, and Miss Universe.
